The main point of attack today (pun intended), was point 23 at Horsted, which is the first one that you come across when entering the station from the south end.  There was a dip just after the vee on one side of the point, which required lifting and packing to correct.   Or so we thought.  On closer inspection, it turned out that a couple of the chairs had started to wear into the timbers, with the result that if they were lifted to correct the profile, it would throw the other side out of alignment.  As we had no suitable packing to put under the chairs, the only solution was to replace the affected timbers and then jack and pack accordingly.

Not the normal sort of chair removal you'd expect to see the pway gang involved with....

frame
There is always someone in hi-viz in shot, so make light of it, and frame them with the extension tube!

new
Two new timbers installed, almost 30 feet in total

Nearly finished, just needs copious amounts of lifting and packing to level out...
