Today's mission was sleepers, or more accurately, point timbers (big sleepers).  We had to source a number of sleepers to replace some unhealthy ones, a few of which are just North of Leamland bridge, to be done during the forthoming spring engineering week, and the others are part of the ongoing Horsted Keynes resignalling project.  After finding the correct ones for this second job (after the first measurements given to us had been found to be wrong), we started to prepare to replace the timbers on one of the points in the north yard.  This point is due to get position indication equipment in due course, and the current timbers were assessed as being unsuitable for the purpose.

dodgy weather
As usual, the weather was a bit unpredictable.....

more spadework
The spadework being done to prepare the timbers for removal.  It was decided to postpone the replacement until next week, as the limited space in the area means that it will be very awkward removing the old timbers, and also slotting the new ones in place, and the job had to be done in one go - the yard is in use, so unlike Jarvis, we're not going to go home leaving half the trakc missing with the inevitable consequences.....!
