A rather bitty day today, as there were only a few members brave (mad?) enough to venture out in the less than pleasant weather.... Firstly we went to the salt yard to find two point levers that were required for Kingscote for the forthcoming engineering trains, and then delivered them to Kingscote, taking a peek at the extension at the same time. Afterwards, we returned for some tea and cake, before exploring coach 21271 which is supposedly a tool store for the pway bits, but never gets used a such because there isn't really anywhere to put anything. So we went back for some more tea and cake for lunch. We then had a request from the S+T lads for the removal of the staging that they had used to paint a sight patch on Three Arch bridge and it's moving to Leamland bridge. Off we trudged down the line, only to find that the 'aluminium' staging was in fact steel, and would require loading onto the Wickham. Attempting to feign enthusiasm, I carried the ladder back, all 15-odd feet of it, and it started to blow a gale and rain quite well.
This was the sight that greeted us on our return in the Wickham a
while later, after some tea and cake. Needless to say the rain
was not welcomed by the poor soul who had just painted the panel,
and who had to do it all again a while later!
There was some tea and cake to follow, which as you may have worked out was the theme for the day.....
