Being a 'big gang' Sunday, the group was split up, with a few people resuming the work started last Sunday on the point timbers....
....and the majority of the people working on the line though platforms 4 and 5, for which we had an engineers'
possession for the day.
The task was to tidy up the excess ballast that had been squeezed out from where the trackbed
gradually settles into the clay underneath, and to repack and level it where this settling had occurred.
Unfortunately the whole of Horsted Keynes is plagued by the clay in the ground causing the track to sink, but fortunately
it's a situation that we can keep on top of, although the frustration of having to repack the same bit of track every few
months does build up a bit!
Getting on for tea-time, and the job is nearing completion
A certain photographer at it again...
Almost time to clear up and have some cake....
