Most of today was spent underneath Birch Grove preparing parts of the valvegear for removal as part of some routine maintenance being carried out during the repainting of the loco. Needless to say, there was little room to get at the bits, and as usualy, being left-handed is a distinct disadvantage at times.... I did escape for a little while to help with some work that was being caried out on the tender chassis of the Brighton Atlantic, where the rear bufferbeam was having some holes filled in and ground flush
