A C1 turn today, and once more I managed to get some work done on Bluebell after the cleaning was done.

bufferbeam
First was preparing the bufferbeam for repainting, so it was out with the needlegun and angle grinder with wire brush attachment.  I spent most of the rest of the day picking bits of wire brush out of my overalls....

studs
Next came some more stud removal on the dome, where I managed a slightly better average than on the firebox, but it was stilt very hard work!  In the background is 1638's boiler, where the progress on welding the new plate into firebox can be seen

chassis
This is a view of the chassis showing some of the new metalwork in place, and about to be in place in the case of some of the parts I made yesterday.  One of the larger supports can be seen at the top right of the chassis waiting to be fixed in place, the other is already in position

chassis
Another shot of the chassis, taken further back, showing the further clenaing and repair work that has taken place since the last pictures

chassis
A very poor shot taken facing the other way

firebox
The progress on the firebox of 1638.  The new back plate has been welded into place, and the seam is now being built up to the surface

tubeplate
At the opposite end, the tubeplate is being rivetted on

tender
In addition, the tender is making very good progress

After time was called on the cleaning turn, I headed up to Horsted to see how the pway gang were getting on with the Ardingly job, with the obvious advantage of tea and cake....
