Wizard Weekend
The first task of the day for a few of us was to travel down to SP, as there was a broken insulated block joint (IBJ) that needed to be attended to
This is what happens when people keep running trains over the track....
In keeping with the theme of the weekend, a certain director sports a non standard issue hat
Another infamous member of the department had also found a cape, but despite the loco being
adorned with a broomstick, the cat was nowhere to be found...!
Just to be awkward, the only replacement plates were of slightly different specification, so
thanks are due to Fred who took some time out from working on the Atlantic to alter the
spacing of the holes to suit
Much later on, a view taken from remains of the vidacut parapet at the end of the Ardingly formation.
The gaping hole in the foreground is where many years ago the formation was excavated to provide material to
build the top car park at Sheffield Park. At that time, reaching Kingscote was a pipedream, let alone East
Grinstead, and mention of Ardingly would have been a cruel joke. Kingscote was reached several years back,
East Grinstead is ever closer to reality, as for Ardingly? Never say never.....
